Former employees of the Polish Biographical Dictionary

During the years, employees of the Polish Biographical Dictionary included:

  • dr HELENA WERESZYCKA nee WANICZKOWNA: in the 1930 responsible for preparing the biography card index. Dr Wereszycka worked as editor of 18th century biographies from the beginning of the existence of the Dictionary. In the years 1958 – 1976 she worked as the Editorial Assistant and in the years 1976 – 1977 as a Deputy of the Editor in Chief.
  • dr HALINA KOWALSKA-KOSSOBUDZKA: employed in the PAS Institute of History since 1953, dr Kowalska was for many years the editor of 16th to 18th century biographies. She directed the Old Polish section in the years 1976 – 2002 and as a Deputy of the Editor in Chief in the years 1977 – 2002.
  • dr. ALINA SZKLARSKA-LOHMANNOWA: employed in the PAS Institute of History since 1953 and in the Polish Biographical Dictionary since 1971, she worked as editor of 20th century biographies, directed the 19th and 20th century section in 1976 – 1999 and was a Deputy of the Editor in Chief in the years 1977 – 1999. Member of the Research Council of the Polish Biographical Dictionary in 2005 – 2008.
  • mgr ROZA BIERNACKA, nee JODLOWSKA: involved in the Biographical Section since 1955, long-time editor of the history of arts content, Editorial Assistant in the years 1978 – 2003, Acting Director of the Polish Biographical Dictionary in 1994 – 2003, retired since 2004.
  • prof.dr hab. IRENA HOMOLA-SKAPSKA, previously HOMOLA-DZIKOWSKA: involved in the editing of the Polish Biographical Dictionary since 1955, editor of biographies of musicians, later of 19th century biographies, Editorial Assistant in 1976-1978, retired since 1999; member of the Editorial Committee and Research Council of the Polish Biographical Dictionary since 2005.
  • dr Andrzej A. Zieba: author of numerous 19th and 20th century biographies, editor in the years 1999-2003, director of the 19th and 20th century section and a Deputy of the Editor in Chief in 2000-2003.
